AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken volleyball team reeled off consecutive 3-0 victories against Lee and Shorter Saturday.

The Pacers are now 7-0 on the season.

In the first match of the day against Lee, Christine Carroll soared to a match-high 19 kills, marking the fourth most in school history in a three-set match. She had just one miscue on 34 attempts while putting out the Flames with her .529 attack percentage.

Kayla Duggan and Alie Smith had seven kills each while Abbey Schad contributed four kills. Duggan was sensational with three aces while Rebecca Martinez totaled three aces.

Alli Bell, fresh off PBC Specialist of the Week honors, dished out 32 assists and registered seven digs. Defensively, Duggan led everyone with 21 digs while Martinez and Smith accounted for 19 and 13, respectively. At the net, Carroll stuffed two attempts by herself while being in on one more.

The Pacers hit .220 for the match while limiting Lee to .018.

Trailing 21-19 in the first set, an error by the visitors and a block from Carroll knotted the score. Down 22-21, Bell found Carroll for a kill. Martinez dished out an assist to Smith prior to Bell finding Smith for the final point.

Leading 9-7 in the second frame, two mistakes by Lee, a kill from Duggan and an ace by Bell pushed the margin to 13-7. Up 16-13, Carroll found the court on four consecutive plays before a bad set by the Flames made it 21-13. USC Aiken cruised to the 25-16 victory.

In the third set, the teams were tied at 10-10 before Duggan sliced the defense for a point, helping the squad embark on an 11-1 run to put the match away. With Duggan serving, the team reeled off six straight points, including an ace for the 21-11 advantage. Martinez ended the match minutes later with an ace.

Against Shorter in the nightcap, Smith slammed home a match-best 20 kills while adding 16 digs for a double-double. She moved into a tie for third place on the single-match list with the 20 kills. Carroll garnered 11 kills in the contest while Duggan and Schad added eight and seven, respectively.

Bell registered 39 assists and 15 digs for a double-double effort while Martinez narrowly missed out on a double-double with 26 digs and nine assists. In the third set, Martinez notched her 2,000th career dig, becoming only the second Pacer to ever do so. Mercer chipped in seven digs as well.

At the net, Carroll had two solo blocks and teamed up with Duggan on two more blocks.

In the tightly-contested first set, Duggan's kill pushed the score to 24-22, but Shorter responded with a kill. However, a service error gave USC Aiken the 25-23 victory.

Leading 15-9 in the second stanza, Anita Cookey-Gam sliced the defense for a kill. After an error by the visitors, Carroll and Smith posted kills to make it 19-9. The Hawks pulled within seven at 24-17, but Schad closed the door on the set with a thunderous kill.

Carroll added two kills before Smith's kill gave the team a four-point advantage. Leading 24-21, USC Aiken was unable to secure the next two points as Shorter made it 24-23.
