AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken baseball team cruised to an 11-3 win over Augusta Saturday afternoon.
The Pacers are now 20-16 on the season, including 12-8 in league play while the Jaguars fall to 16-21 on the year and 5-18 against conference foes.
Head coach
Kenny Thomas' team jumped on top with three runs in the bottom of the second. After a walk,
Chandler Rogers went to second on a wild pitch before moving to third on a fly ball. He raced home on a single by
Sean McQuillan. Moments later,
Joey Smithers doubled home McQuillan and
Jackson Hannon, who had reached on a base hit to left field.
The visitors scored a run in the third, but USC Aiken answered with six in the bottom of the frame. With the bases loaded,
Philip Watcher drew a walk, driving in Rogers. A passed ball allowed
Cary Holloway to cross home plate. After a walk to
Joey Smithers,
Conner Durden was hit by a pitch to plate McQuillan.
With two down,
Alex Mills ripped a base hit to center field, scoring Watcher and Smithers. Rogers followed him up with a base hit that scored Durden for a 9-1 edge.
McQuillan's base hit with one away in the fifth plated Rogers and Holloway for an 11-1 margin.
Zach Rafuse went six innings to pick up the win. He improves to 7-0 on the year. Rafuse struck out five and walked one.

Zach Lang all saw time from the bullpen.
At the plate, Hannon, McQuillan and Smithers had two hits apiece. McQuillan tallied three RBI while Mills and Smithers had two each. Rogers scored three times while Holloway and McQuillan crossed home twice apiece.
