Pacers Fall Twice To Bobcats

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The University of South Carolina Aiken softball team lost twice at Georgia College Sunday by scores of 5-2 and 6-0.

The Pacers are now 13-15 on the year and 0-4 in league play. The Bobcats are 21-10 overall and 3-1 against conference foes.

In game one, USC Aiken fell behind 3-0 after the Bobcats plated two runs in the third and another in the fourth. Head coach Jerry Snyder's team continued to battle, putting a pair of Pacers on the bases in the fifth.

Sarah Sams reached first on a miscue before taking second on a walk to Janee McCarthy. With one down, Sams was erased at third base on a fielder's choice. USC Aiken was unable to push across a run in the stanza.

In the sixth, Hannah Price drew a walk, but was out when Katelyn Powell reached on a fielder's choice. With two down, Powell swiped second before racing home on a single by Kathleen St. Peter to make it 3-1.

GC scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth, but Snyder's team threatened in the seventh. McCarthy led things off with a single and moved to second on a base hit by Courtney Strauss. With two down, Price singled up the middle, scoring McCarthy. A solid play by the defense managed to register the final out a play later.

For the game, Price went three-for-three with a double and one RBI. McCarthy belted out two hits and scored a run. Strauss, St. Peter and Deja Robinson all had a hit. St. Peter drove in a run while Powell scored one.

In game two, Robinson got the team's lone hit.

The Pacers return to action Thursday when they play a doubleheader at Belmont Abbey starting at 2 p.m.
