Pacers Drop Doubleheader To Erskine

AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken softball team lost a pair of games to Erskine Thursday by scores of 8-1 and 5-0.

The Pacers are now 13-11 on the season while the Flying Fleet improve to 13-4.

In game one, Hannah Price led the way with a pair of hits, including a round-tripper. She finished two-for-three with the team's lone RBI and run scored. Leah Boghosian registered the other hit for USC Aiken.

The Pacers jumped on top in the bottom of the first when Price launched an offering high and deep to straight-away center field. The ball cleared the fence by inches, giving the home team a 1-0 lead.

Erskine scored a pair of runs in the second and another in the third. Trailing 3-1, the visitors managed to plate five runs in the sixth for an 8-1 advantage. Boghosian recorded a one-out single in the sixth, but she was left stranded. Price singled to lead off the seventh and moved to second, but she was unable to come around to score.

In game two, Courtney Strauss started things off with a base knock through the right side of the infield. However, she was erased at second base. Sarah Sams tallied a two-out single in the second.

Erskine broke through with five runs in the fifth.

USC Aiken battled back, loading the bags in the seventh stanza. Price singled before Sams and Janee McCarthy registered back-to-back walks. However, the team was unable to pick up another base runner.

For the game, Strauss had a pair of hits while Price and Sams each had one.

The Pacers return to action tomorrow when they host Columbus State in a doubleheader starting at 5 p.m. Live stats and video will be available at PacerSports.com.
