AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's basketball team lost a hard-fought 67-65 game to Emmanuel Tuesday evening.

Head coach Mark Miller's team was led by Kwajelin Farrar's game-high 20 points and nine rebounds. She canned nine-of-11 in the contest. Grace Crawford came off the bench to hit five-of-10 from the floor, including four-of-six from downtown, en route to a 16-point effort. Melyk Taouil totaled 11 points to go along with six assists and six rebounds.

Tied at 8-8, Taouil hit a pair of free throws to give the home squad a two-point edge. Rikoya Anderson canned a foul shot before Crawford hit two from the charity stripe. An old-fashioned three-point play from Chesney Gardner and a foul shot from Alexis Mack completed a 9-0 run, giving the Pacers a 17-8 advantage with 1:11 to go in the first quarter.

USC Aiken saw its lead dwindle to two at 17-15, but Crawford drained a three-ball for a five-point margin. Leading 22-17, Crawford hit back-to-back shots from downtown for a 28-17 lead. Leading 32-27 with 15 seconds to go in the half, Crawford hit another bucket for a 34-27 advantage at the break.

Down 56-52 with 8:36 to play, Farrar connected on an old-fashioned three-point play to pull within one. Moments later, a Mack three-point basket knotted the score at 58-58. Farrar hit the next two shots, giving the Pacers a 62-58 advantage with 3:20 to go. However, the Lions scored six straight for a two-point lead.

Down 66-63, Alex Canady stole the ball and went the length of the court for a lay-up with 37 seconds to go. Forced to foul, the Lions made one-of-two free throws and Farrar snagged the board. USC Aiken called time-out, but the squad was unable to get off a shot in the closing seconds.
