MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's soccer team wrapped up its season with a 4-0 loss at Georgia College Thursday evening.
The Pacers end the year with a 3-12-1 record, including a 3-7-1 ledger in league play. The Bobcats improve to 6-9-2 overall and 5-5-1 in PBC play.
Head coach
Hilary George's team nearly jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the seventh minute of action. However,
Gressa Olson's shot toward the lower left of the frame was stopped.
Madi Banks kept the contest scoreless by saving shots in the seventh and 11
th minutes of action.
Marianne Ross' attempt sailed high of the goal moments later.
The Bobcats took a 1-0 advantage at the 24:51 mark. USC Aiken posted three shots on goal in the final 12 minutes of the half, but each was saved by Kate Richardson.
Georgia College pushed the score to 2-0 in the 49
th minute.
George's team earned a corner kick at the 50:49 mark and
Mia Maupin's shot seconds later was saved. USC Aiken's
Paige D'Agostin's shot was stopped by the Bobcats, but the Pacers continued applying pressure on the home squad. After another corner kick,
Willa Olson rocketed a shot that sailed wide of the goal.
The Bobcats made it 3-0 in the 60
th minute of play and added another tally at the 80:31 mark.
Amanda Raleigh and
Daija Bryant registered shots in the closing minutes.
For the match, USC Aiken tallied 11 shots, including seven on goal. Banks played all 90 minutes between the pipes, stopping 11 shots. The Pacers tallied three corner kicks compared to one by the home team.
