AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken volleyball team lost a 3-0 decision to Augusta Saturday afternoon in the PBC semifinals.
The Pacers are now 25-5 on the year.
Christine Carroll led the way with a match-high 12 kills.
Abbey Schad contributed eight kills while
Alie Smith chipped in six in the loss.
Mallory Barash accounted for a team-high 15 assists while
Alli Bell totaled 10 assists to go along with six digs.
Defensively,
Rebecca Martinez led everyone with 19 digs.
Emily Duggan and Smith tallied 12 and 11, respectively.
After dropping the first two sets, USC Aiken took a 9-6 lead after Smith served up an ace against the Jaguars and an error by the visitors. Trailing 22-21, Barash found Carroll for the tying score.
Down 25-24, a ball handling error was called on the visitors. An attack error gave USC Aiken a one-point edge at 26-25. However, three straight points by Augusta ended the match at 28-26.
The Pacers return to action in the NCAA Tournament. The Selection Show is Monday night at 7:30 p.m.
