USC Aiken Drops Contest At No. 21 Lander

GREENWOOD, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken men's soccer team lost a 2-1 decision at No. 21 Lander Saturday evening.

The Pacers are now 2-5 on the season and 1-1 in league play.

After the host Bearcats scored two goals in the first half, head coach Ike Ofoje's team cut the deficit in half in the 70th minute of action.

Ricardo Pineda broke through the defense and blasted the ball past the keeper to make it 2-1.

Maintaining momentum, USC Aiken earned a corner kick in the 78th minute of play. However, the team was unable to register a shot off the set piece.

After the Bearcats took a corner kick at the 88:13 mark, Ofoje's squad regained possession. The team pushed forward and had a chance to knot the match, but Ranaldo Bailey's shot in the closing seconds missed wide of the frame.

For the contest, USC Aiken had four shots. Kenneth Kalek played all 90 minutes between the pipes. He stopped four shots.

USC Aiken earned three corner kicks.
