AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's tennis team registered a 9-0 win over Salem International Friday.
The Pacers are now 10-7 on the season.
Senior
Kayla Calvert and
Olivera Veskovac were part of four victories in their last home contest.
Veskovac and
Teresa Franco Dias garnered an 8-1 win at the top doubles spot. Calvert and
Victoria Giannaccini topped their foes 8-0 at the No. 2 spot.
Elena Bompieri and
Alice Neves totaled an 8-1 win at the No. 3 position.
In singles action, head coach
Steve Dahm's team was enver challenged, dropping just three games combined in the six matches.
Veskovac bested her opponent at No. 1 by a 6-0, 6-1 count. Her win pushed her into a tie for sixth on the USC Aiken career singles wins list with 44. Calvert notched a 6-1, 6-1 victory at the No. 2 slot.
Karina Blas picked up the shutout win at No. 3. Giannaccini, Franco Dias and
Mariana Yamashita played at No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively – and all won by convincing 6-0, 6-0 scores.
The Pacers return to action Sunday when they travel to Francis Marion at 12 p.m.
