FLORENCE, S.C. – The No. 8 University of South Carolina Aiken men's tennis team lost a 5-3 decision to Georgia College in a PBC Quarterfinal contest Friday afternoon.
The Pacers are now 16-6 on the season.
Head coach
Steve Dahm's team fell behind 2-1 after doubles play. The dyad of
Alvaro Garcia Gil and
Wojciech Adamek tallied an 8-3 victory at the No. 3 slot for the team's lone point in doubles. Top-seeded
Tales Silva and
Alex Sklizovic lost a hard-fought 8-5 match.
Vicente Andrades and
Antonio Sabugueiro – playing at No. 2 – lost by an identical score.
Valentin Mounoto dit Larroque brought the Pacers within one at 3-2 after etching a 6-2, 6-1 win at the No. 6 position.
Down 4-2,
Liam Wiggins pulled off a 7-6, 6-3 victory at the No. 5 spot. However, the Bobcats secured the win with a victory at No. 3.
The Pacers will now wait for the NCAA Selection Show to determine their next opponent.
