AIKEN, S.C. – The No. 13 University of South Carolina Aiken men's tennis team blanked Erskine in the home finale Wednesday afternoon by a 9-0 count.
The Pacers are now 15-5 on the season.
Head coach
Steve Dahm's team garnered a 3-0 lead after a powerful performance in doubles action.
Tales Silva and
Alex Sklizovic registered an 8-6 win at the No. 1 spot.
Wojciech Adamek and
Alvaro Garcia Gil tallied an 8-1 win at the No. 2 position while
Antonio Sabugueiro and
Valentin Mounoto dit Larroque won by the same count at No. 3.
Coming off a tough match on Tuesday, Dahm changed up his singles line-up but still managed to get excellent results.
Sabugueiro, fresh off being named the PBC Player of the Week, continued his dominance with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at the top spot. Garcia Gil was not challenged at No. 2, putting together a 6-1, 6-1 victory.
Liam Wiggins – the hero from Tuesday – posted a 6-2, 6-3 win at the No. 3 slot. Larroque accounted for a 6-3, 6-1 win at the No. 4 position.
Sklizovic and Adamek each wasted little time at their respective No. 5 and No. 6 positions. The pair each won by identical scores of 6-0, 6-0.
The Pacers return to action Saturday when they play at Georgia College in the regular-season finale at 1 p.m.
