GAFFNEY, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's tennis team garnered an 8-1 win at Limestone Tuesday afternoon.
The Pacers are now 11-8 on the season.
Head coach
Steve Dahm's team jumped out to a 2-1 edge in doubles action and never looked back.
Elena Bompieri and
Alice Neves teamed up for an 8-4 win at the No. 2 spot. Third-seeded
Victoria Giannaccini and
Karina Blas tallied an 8-6 win at the No. 3 slot.
In singles action,
Olivera Veskovac led the way with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 1. Bompieri battled back for a three-set win, taking home a 5-7, 6-2, 13-11 win. Giannaccini needed some extra time, but bested her foe 6-2, 7-5 at the No. 3 position.
Blas played well at No. 4, winning 6-2, 6-2.
Teresa Franco Dias registered a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 5 while Neves improved to 2-0 on the day with a 7-6, 6-3 win at No. 6.
The Pacers return to action Saturday when they travel to Georgia College for the regular-season finale at 1 p.m.
