AMERICUS, Ga. – The University of South Carolina Aiken baseball team garnered an 8-1 victory at Georgia Southwestern Sunday in the series finale.

The Pacers are now 17-8 overall, including an 8-4 ledger in league play.

Head coach Kenny Thomas' team jumped on top with two runs in the first and never looked back. Jose Bonilla started the game off with a double to left center field. With one down, Daulton Weeks walked. The dyad each swiped a base. Two batters later, Nile Goings singled home Bonilla for a 1-0 lead. USC Aiken made it 3-0 in the third when Goings singled home Durden, who had reached on a one-out double.

In the fourth, Chandler Rogers singled and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. Bonilla's single put runners on the corners. Bonilla swiped second, but an error on the play allowed him to scamper to third while Rogers trotted home. Joey Smithers followed it up with an RBI single, plating Bonilla. Smithers swiped second, but managed to take his time going home when Weeks blasted a two-run shot over the left field wall.

Watcher ended the scoring in the big frame with a base knock to right field, scoring Blake Bottomley for the 8-0 margin.

The Hurricanes scored a run in the sixth, cutting the deficit to 8-1.
