DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The University of South Carolina Aiken softball team lost a pair of games at Embry-Riddle Tuesday afternoon.
The Pacers dropped the first game 15-3 before losing the nightcap 6-0.
In the opener, head coach
Jerry Snyder's team was paced by
Hannah Price's team-best two hits.
Sarah Sams and
Courtney Strauss each drove in a run.
Brielle Jungblut,
Sydney Kate Murphy and
Chandler Terrapin all crossed home plate.
Trailing 13-0 in the third, USC Aiken got on the board.
Janee McCarthy singled with one away, but was erased on a fielder's choice from Jungblut. Strauss quickly capitalized on a pitch, sending a shot into right field. A mishap allowed Jungblut to gallop home all the way from first base.
In the fourth, Terrapin ripped a double to left field. Murphy followed it up with a single to left. A walk to
Kathleen St. Peter allowed the bases to be full of Pacers. Two batters later, Sams earned a base on balls, plating Terrapin. McCarthy reached on a fielder's choice and Murphy scored, pushing the score to 13-3. The home squad plated two runs in the fifth for the final tally.
In the nightcap, USC Aiken was unable to get a runner on base in the defeat.
The Pacers return to action Thursday when they host No. 12 Lenoir-Rhyne for a doubleheader. First pitch is slated for 2 p.m. Live stats and video will be available at PacerSports.com.
