AIKEN, S.C. - The University of South Carolina Aiken women's basketball team lost an 88-64 contest to Francis Marion Wednesday evening.
The Pacers are now 3-8 overall and 0-5 in league play while the Patriots improve to 7-3 on the season and 4-1 against conference foes.
Head coach
Mark Miller's team was paced by a trio of student-athletes that scored in double figures.
Marissa Bruce led the team with a squad-best 15 points. She connected on five-of-nine from the floor and made five-of-six from the charity stripes.
Kyrie' Chandler accounted for 12 markers while
Emily Waters poured in 11 points.
Allenia Ponder and
Lonesha Lee chipped in eight points apiece.
Star Toomey was solid on the glass, grabbing a game-high seven boards. She also swatted a game-best four blocks.
Melyk Taouil had a team-high four assists in the loss.
For the game, USC Aiken hit 23-of-49 from the floor (46.9 percent), including three-of-eight from downtown (37.5 percent). Miller's squad outscored the visitors 30-28 in the paint and held a 22-12 advantage in bench points. Â
