Pacers Suffer Road Setback

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's basketball team lost a 69-45 decision at Georgia College Monday afternoon in a league contest.

The Pacers are now 3-12 overall and 0-9 in league play while the Bobcats improve to 10-5 overall and 7-2 against league foes.

Head coach Mark Miller's team was led by Emily Waters' team-best 10 points. She also collected four rebounds in 14 minutes of work. Melyk Taouil contributed nine markers.

Star Toomey collected seven points, six rebounds and a steal in 26 minutes of action. Phenecia Howard came off the bench to net both of her shots from the floor for five points in seven minutes of work.

Marissa Bruce registered a game-high three steals.

USC Aiken fell behind 15-2 before Chandler drained a three-ball with 4:08 to play in the first quarter. Bruce found Waters for a lay-up, slicing the deficit to eight at 17-9. After the Bobcats built a double-digit lead again, Taouil ended the first period with a three-pointer, making it 22-14.

Lonesha Lee's three-ball with 23 seconds to go in the second quarter cut the deficit to eight at 28-20. However, that's as close as USC Aiken would get the rest of the way.

For the game, USC Aiken made 15-of-54 shots from the floor (27.8 percent), including five-of-26 from distance (19.2 percent). The squad hit 10-of-18 from the charity stripe (55.6 percent).

The Pacers return to action Wednesday when they host UNC Pembroke at 5:30 p.m. Live stats and video will be available at PacerSports.com.
