Pacers Drop Twinbill To Braves

PEMBROKE, N.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken softball team lost a pair of games at UNC Pembroke Saturday by scores of 11-3 and 2-0.

The Pacers are now 9-5-1 on the season.

Head coach Jerry Snyder's team jumped on top of the Braves in the first inning of game one. Hanna Hyder led off the game with a single to left field before moving to third on Sydney Kate Murphy's base hit to right center field. Chandler Terrapin's single plated Hyder for a 1-0 lead.

A wild pitch moved Murphy and Terrapin up 60 feet apiece. With two down, Hannah Price doubled in the pair for a 3-0 edge.

UNC Pembroke scored a run in the second before plating five in the fourth for a 7-3 advantage the home team would not relinquish. The Braves ended the game early with four runs in the fifth.

In game two, Leah Boghosian led off the first inning with an infield hit. However, she was erased on a double play.

USC Aiken got things going in the fourth. With one down, Terrapin reached base. She moved to second when Hayley Elkins drew a walk. However, a pop fly ended the threat.

Trailing 2-0 in the top of the seventh, Kristan Lowery blasted a double down the left field line with two away. However, a groundout ended the contest.

The Pacers return to action tomorrow when they play a doubleheader at Francis Marion at 1 p.m. Live stats will be available at PacerSports.com.
