Each week throughout the 2016 USC Aiken men's soccer season, the sports information office will produce weekly notes.
Dalmau Does It
Against Mount Olive, the USC Aiken soccer team held the contest scoreless through the first 70-plus minutes of action. Then, the offense broke through.
Adria Dalmau received the ball, one-touched it and blasted the ball past the keeper for the golden goal. It was not only his first goal of the season, but also the team's first score of the year.
Simmond Shines
Already in the school's top-10 career list for scoring, junior
Andre Simmond added to his point total with an assist on the team's first goal of the year. He flicked the ball to
Adria Dalmau for what turned out to be the game-winning score in the victory over Mount Olive.
Clean Slate
Senior
Chase Boulton helped the Pacers pick up their first win of the season in the 1-0 victory over Mount Olive. While playing all 90 minutes between the pipes, Boulton registered three saves, including one after USC Aiken got on the board. The shutout was the first of Boulton's career under the guidance of head coach
Ike Ofoje.
Back-To-Back Years
On Thursday, the USC Aiken men's soccer team will take on Shorter for the second straight year. The Pacers downed the squad 5-1 a season ago at the Pacer Pit. In the match against the region foe,
Nathan Shanko and
Andre Simmond each scored a goal. Simmond also had a pair of assists while Shanko tallied one. The Pacers jumped out to a 2-0 advantage at the break and poured it on with three more scores in the final 45 minutes of action.
Monday Monday Monday
On Sept. 19, the USC Aiken men's soccer team will host West Alabama. It marks the second straight Monday afternoon match for the squad – and the last during the season. On Sept. 12, the Pacers dropped a 1-0 affair to Carson-Newman after a two hour weather delay.
