University of South Carolina Aiken baseball standout Zach Moon has been named the South Carolina Education Lottery USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Month for his efforts in the month of April.
Moon is a 6-4 junior from Snellville, Ga. He was outstanding at the plate throughout the 17 games for head coach Kenny Thomas.
Moon led the everyday players with a .375 batting average. He posted a team-high 25 RBI and notched a team-best 51 total bases. Moon's six doubles, .708 slugging percentage and .464 on-base percentage were tops on the squad.
He garnered eight multi-hit games, including a school-record tying five-hit performance in the 12-11 win at Flagler. He also drove in a season-high five runs in the victory over the Saints. Moon tallied seven multi-RBI games and reached safely in 16 games.
He is currently on a nine-game hitting streak heading into the last regular-season contest.
The South Carolina Education Lottery USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Month award honors one student-athlete each month from an in-season sport for their hard work and effort. Each month during the 2015-16 athletic year one winner will be chosen from an in-season sport.
