Two Earn All-Region Accolades

AIKEN, S.C. – Two University of South Carolina Aiken baseball standouts picked up D2CCA NCAA Division II all-Southeast Region honors Thursday.

Junior Zach Moon garnered first-team honors as the designated hitter while senior Max Schoen tallied second-team accolades at catcher.

Moon earned the selection as the designated hitter. Heading into the NCAA Tournament, Moon is second on the team with a .367 batting average. His 16 round-trippers are tops on the team and are fourth in the Peach Belt Conference. Moon also leads the squad and ranks fourth in the league with 66 RBI. The Snellville, Ga., native is second on the team with 73 hits and leads the way with 56 runs scored. Moon carries a .678 slugging percentage into the postseason.

Schoen, who hails from Loveland, Colo., earned the honor as a catcher. He leads USC Aiken and is fifth in the league with a .412 batting average. Schoen has a team-high 80 hits and maintains a .582 slugging percentage. He is tied for first with a squad-best 15 doubles. Schoen's 41 RBI are third on the team. Schoen also carries a .470 on-base percentage into the NCAA Tournament.
