DAHLONEGA ,Ga. – The No. 50 University of South Carolina Aiken women's tennis netted a 5-4 victory at North Georgia Thursday afternoon.
The Pacers improve to 13-6 overall and 5-5 against league foes. The Nighthawks fall to 15-7 overall and 5-5 against conference competition.
Head coach Steve Dahm's team jumped out to a hard-fought 2-1 lead after a strong showing in doubles action.
Nadine Tusiama and Olivera Veskovac garnered a 9-8 (7-5) victory at the top doubles spot. The tandem of Kayla Calvert and Victoria Giannaccini tallied a 9-8 (7-4) win at the No. 3 slot.
Tusiama, ranked No. 29 in singles action, continued her solid ways by posting a three-set victory at the No. 1 position. Tusiama won by scores of 6-0, 4-6, 6-3.
Calvert picked up her second victory of the day by claiming a 6-3, 7-5 win at No. 3.
Sarah Bernos tallied the team's other win, coming at the No. 6 position. She cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 victory.
The Pacers are back in action Saturday when they play at Montevallo at 12 p.m.
