BELMONT, N.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken men's tennis team earned a 9-0 victory at Belmont Abbey Tuesday afternoon.
The Pacers improve to 10-4 with the win.
Head coach Steve Dahm's team had little trouble throughout the match en route to the victory.
The tandem of Julien Tan and Ettore Damiani garnered an 8-3 win at the No. 1 doubles spot. The duo of Mathias Degardin and Clement Raymond posted an 8-0 win over their counterparts. Alejandro Andino and Hunter Lathrop, who played at the No. 3 position, earned an 8-5 victory, securing the 3-0 lead for USC Aiken heading into singles action.
The Pacers did not allow their counterparts to record more the three games in any set in singles play.
Tan, playing at the top spot, posted a 6-3, 6-0 victory over his opponent. Damiani, playing at No. 2, tallied a 6-2, 6-2 win. The victory marked his 50th singles win of his career, pushing him into a tie for third place on USC Aiken's career list for singles wins.
Degardin, seeing time at No. 3, defeated his counterpart by the identical 6-2, 6-2 score.
Raymond, playing at the No. 4 position, totaled a 6-2, 6-0 win. Fifth-seeded Lathrop cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 victory while Andino was not strongly tested, posting a 6-3, 6-1 win at the No. 6 slot. Andino's victory pushed him into sole possession of first place with 15 career wins at the No. 6 singles slot.
The Pacers return to action Friday when they play at Armstrong State at 2 p.m.
