AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken men's tennis team wasted little time en route to picking up a 9-0 victory over visiting Alabama Huntsville Tuesday afternoon.
The Pacers are 9-4 on the season.
Head coach Steve Dahm's team cruised to the 3-0 lead after doubles play after registering some inspiring play.
Ettore Damiani and Julien Tan dismantled their opposition by a score of 8-2 at the top spot. Mathias Degardin and Clement Raymond notched an 8-5 victory as the No. 2 seed while Alejandro Andino and Hunter Lathrop were not seriously challenged in the 8-4 win.
In singles play, USC Aiken claimed every match in just two sets.
Tan, playing at the No. 1 spot, did not lose a point in the 6-0, 6-0 win. Damiani had little trouble at the No. 2 slot, winning 6-1, 6-2.
At the No. 3 position, Degardin took home a 6-1, 6-4 victory. Raymond breezed to a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 4.
Lathrop handled his opponent rather well, chalking up a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 5. Andino completed the sweep with his 7-5, 6-3 victory at the No. 6 spot.
The Pacers return to action Saturday when they play at North Georgia. The match is slated to start at 2 p.m.
