GREENWOOD, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken men's tennis team lost an 8-1 contest at No. 5 Lander Sunday afternoon in a Peach Belt Conference contest.
Head coach Steve Dahm's team fought hard, but lost all three doubles contests. The team's closest match came at the No. 3 spot as Alejandro Andino and Hunter Lathrop pushed their opposition to extra points before falling 9-8.
In singles action, Mathias Degardin notched a three-set victory for the team's lone point. He won the first set 7-5 before dropping the second stanza by the identical score. However, he wrapped up the point by winning the third set by a 10-5 score.
Lathrop played a three-set match, but came up short in the final set. He lost the first frame 6-3 before rallying back to take the second set 6-4. He lost the final set by a 10-6 score.
Clement Raymond pushed his competition to extra points at the No. 4 spot. He lost the first set 7-6 before falling by a 6-2 score in the second set.
The Pacers return to action Tuesday when they host Alabama-Huntsville at 12 p.m.
