COLUMBIA, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken men's tennis team put forth a solid match en route to a 9-0 blanking of Benedict Wednesday afternoon.
The Pacers are now 7-3 on the season.
Head coach Steve Dahm's team coasted to a 3-0 lead in doubles play and never looked back.
Top-seeded Julien Tan and Ettore Damiani posted an 8-3 win at the No. 1 spot while second-seeded Mathias Degardin and Clement Raymond garnered an 8-6 win at the No. 2 slot. Alejandro Andino and Hunter Lathrop teamed up for the No. 3 win by default.
In singles action, Tan tallied a 6-3, 6-2 victory at the No. 1 position. Damiani, playing at the No. 2 spot, continued his impressive run with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at the No. 2 position.
Degardin was up 3-1 before his opponent retired, giving Degardin the win at No. 3.
Raymond wasted little time in a 6-0, 6-0 victory at the No. 4 position. Lathrop, seeing time at the No. 5 spot, won by an identical score as Raymond.
Andino capped off the 9-0 victory with a win via forfeit.
The Pacers return to action Saturday when they host Augusta at 11 a.m.
