AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's tennis team picked up a 7-2 victory over Coker Sunday afternoon in a non-conference tennis match.
The Pacers improve to 3-1 on the season.
Head coach Steve Dahm's team fell behind 2-1 after the doubles competition, but managed to come together and reel off six straight singles victories for the team win.
The tandom of Kayla Calvert and Victoria Giannaccini registered a decisive 8-1 victory at the No. 3 spot in doubles play.
Nadine Tusiama got things going in singles action, taking home the win at the No. 1 spot by a 6-3, 6-2 score. Olivera Veskovac cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 win at the No. 2 position.
Calvert remained undefeated on the day, posting a 6-1, 7-5 win at the No. 3 slot.
Giannaccini lost the first set at No. 4 by a 7-6 count. However, she rebounded to post 6-0, 6-0 scores over the final two sets for the decisive victory.
Marie Habiyaremye tallied a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 5. Sarah Bernos picked up a solid win at the No. 6 position with a 6-1, 6-0 victory.
The Pacers return to action Saturday, Feb. 13, when they play at North Georgia at 2 p.m.
