AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's tennis squad lost an 8-1 contest to Georgia Gwinnett Friday afternoon in non-conference action.
Head coach Steve Dahm's team fought hard in each match and was able to register one win in the contest.
The Pacers lost a pair of 8-6 matches in doubles action as Olivera Veskovac and Nadine Tusiama narrowly dropped a match at the top spot. Kayla Calvert and Victoria Giannaccini fell by an identical score at the No. 3 slot.
In singles action, Marie Habiyaremye registered the team's lone victory of the match. She posted an 8-4 win against her counterpart.
Second-seeded Tusiama narrowly lost the first set, 7-5, before dropping 6-3 in the second frame.
Calvert played as the No. 3 seed and fell by a 6-2, 6-3 score.
The Pacers return to action Sunday when they host Coker at 1 p.m.
