AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken men's tennis team lost a 9-0 decision to Georgia Gwinnett Friday afternoon in the season opener for both squads.
Head coach Steve Dahm's team put up a solid fight, but came up just short in each match.
In doubles action, the No. 2 tandem of Mathias Degardin and Clement Raymond fought hard against their competition, but fell to their opposition 8-6. The dyad of Hunter Lathrop and Alejandro Andino dropped an 8-5 match at the No. 3 slot.
Andino played a super-set in singles action, falling 8-6 at the No. 6 spot. Raymond lost an 8-3 contest at the No. 5 position.
Ettore Damiani saw time at the No. 2 slot, falling 6-1, 6-3. Julien Tan lost a 6-0, 6-2 decision at the top singles position while Degardin fell by a 6-0, 6-1 count at the No. 3 spot.
The Pacers return to action Sunday when they host Coker at 1 p.m.
