Box Score MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The No. 6 University of South Carolina Aiken baseball team blasted three home runs en route to an 8-6 road victory at Georgia College Sunday afternoon.
The Pacers are now 11-3 overall, including a 7-2 mark against PBC foes. The Bobcats fall to 6-7 overall and 3-3 in league play.
Skylar Mercado registered three of the team's nine hits. Zach Moon posted a game-high four RBI while Tyler Ammerman and Brian Parreira each had two. Chaz Pal and Parreira each crossed home twice in the win.
Joe Marlow worked 2.1 innings of relief, allowing one run, en route to earning the win. He struck out four batters. Nick Jobst registered the save, striking out one in the ninth frame.
Head coach Kenny Thomas' team got things going in a hurry. With one down, Pal and Parreira each walked. Both were brought home on Moon's three-run blast.
After Georgia College pushed across a run in the second, USC Aiken quickly answered with a pair of runs in the third. With two away, Jonathan Banks earned a walk and was promptly brought home on Ammerman's round-tripper for a 5-1 margin.
The Bobcats tied it in the fourth and after a pair of scoreless innings by both teams, the Pacers regained the lead in the seventh.
Pal reached on an error and Parreira launched a two-run homer for a 7-5 advantage.
The home team scored one in the bottom half of the frame, but USC Aiken answered with a run of its own in the eighth.
With one away, Mercado and Pal each drew walks. After Parreira was hit by a pitch to load the bases, Moon lifted a sacrifice fly to left field, allowing Ammerman to race home for an 8-6 lead.
After Jobst came in to pitch for Lynch, he wasted little time in retiring the side to earn the save. He forced a groundout, a strikeout and a pop-up to first base for the final out of the game.
