MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The No. 6 University of South Carolina Aiken baseball team lost an 8-1 decision to Georgia College Saturday afternoon in a Peach Belt Conference contest.

The Pacers are now 10-3 overall, including a 6-2 mark against league foes.

Head coach Kenny Thomas' team fell behind as the squad allowed three unearned runs.

USC Aiken threatened in the second inning. With two down, Max Schoen singled and went to second on Mitchell Price's base hit. Nile Goings drew a walk to load the bags. However, a fly ball ended the threat.

The Bobcats plated a run in the second and third frames to take a 5-0 advantage into the fourth.

The Pacers looked to slice into the lead in the fifth as Tyler Ammerman registered a one-out single, but back-to-back outs ended the inning.

Trailing 6-0 in the top of the seventh, Thomas' squad continued trying to get on the board.

With one down, Joey Smithers reached on an error. With two outs, Chaz Pal roped a single through the left side, but a groundout ended the inning.

The Bobcats tacked on a run in the seventh and eighth innings and the Pacers were unable to break through until their last at bat.

Down 8-0 in the ninth, Luke Westerberg singled to get things going. Smithers singled to left field and Westerberg hustled to third on a fly ball by Ammerman. He trotted home when Pal lifted a sacrifice fly to right field for the team's lone run of the game.

For the game, USC Aiken accounted for one run on seven hits with two miscues while the Bobcats tallied eight runs on 10 hits with two errors.
