USC Aiken Drops Match To Columbus State

AIKEN, S.C. - The University of South Carolina Aiken men's tennis team lost a 6-3 decision to Columbus State Sunday afternoon.

The Pacers fall to 4-2 overall and 1-1 against league foes while the Cougars improve to 5-2 on the year.

Head coach Steve Dahm's team managed to snag the No. 1 doubles point. The tandem of Ettore Damiani and Julien Tan teamed up for an 8-4 victory.

Second-seeded Mathias Degardin and Clement Raymond lost an 8-5 decision as did No. 3 seed Alejandro Andino and Hunter Lathrop.

USC Aiken dropped several close matches in singles action that could have altered the outcome. Raymond lost a three-set affair at No. 4 while Tan pushed his opponent to the brink at No. 1.

Damiani cruised to a 6-4, 6-3 victory at the No. 2 position while Degardin had little trouble with his victory at No. 3. After winning the first set 7-6, he bounced back to breeze to a 6-1 win in the second frame.

The Pacers return to action Friday when they host Limestone at 1 p.m., in a non-conference showdown.
