AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's tennis team registered a 9-0 victory over visiting Georgia Southwestern Saturday afternoon.
The Pacers improve to 5-1 on the season, including a 1-0 mark against league foes.
Head coach Steve Dahm's team cruised to a 3-0 lead in doubles action. Top-seeded Nadine Tusiama and Olivera Veskovac notched an 8-5 win while Marie Habiyaremye and Sarah Bernos teamed up for an easy 8-0 win at the No. 2 slot. Third-seeded Kayla Calvert and Victoria Giannaccini posted an 8-1 win to close out doubles play.
Tusiama wasted little time defeating her opponent, 6-0, 6-0, at the No. 1 spot. Veskovac disposed of her opponent, 6-0, 6-2, at the No. 2 position.
Calvert cruised to a 6-2, 6-2 win at the No. 3 position while Giannaccini tallied a 6-1, 6-1 victory at the No. 4 spot.
Fifth-seeded Habiyaremye posted a 6-0, 6-1 win at the No. 5 slot while Marta Quereda closed out the team win with a straight-set 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 6.
The Pacers return to action tomorrow when they face Columbus State at 12 p.m.
