AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken men's tennis team garnered an 8-1 victory over Georgia Southwestern Saturday afternoon.
The Pacers improve to 4-1 on the season, including a 1-0 mark against league foes.
Head coach Steve Dahm's team swept the doubles action, giving the squad a 3-0 edge heading into singles competition.
In doubles action, the top-seeded tandem of Julien Tan and Ettore Damiani dispatched their opposition 8-3. Mathias Degardin and Clement Raymond posted an 8-0 shutout at the No. 2 spot while Hunter Lathrop and Alejandro Andino won by an identical 8-0 margin.
Tan continued his dominance at the No. 1 singles position with a 6-0, 6-1 victory. Damiani overpowered his opposition by a 6-3, 6-2 count as the No. 2 seed.
Degardin cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 3 while Raymond had little trouble at the No. 4 spot, winning 6-3, 6-1.
Andino won his match by a 6-2, 6-1 score at No. 6. The lone loss on the day for the Pacers came as Jaime Gusano dropped a three-set match, 6-7, 6-2, 8-10.
The Pacers return to action tomorrow when they face Columbus State at 12 p.m.
