ANDERSON, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken men's tennis team registered an 8-1 victory over Anderson Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference affair.
The Pacers improve to 3-1 on the season.
Head coach Steve Dahm's team swept the doubles points despite a solid effort by the Trojans.
Top-seeded Julien Tan and Ettore Damiani registered a strong 8-5 win while third-seeded Hunter Lathrop and Alejandro Andino won by the same score.
At the No. 2 doubles spot, Mathias Degardin and Clement Raymond had to play a bit longer, but managed to secure a 9-7 victory.
In singles action, Tan quickly dismissed his opposition at the No. 1 slot by a 6-0, 6-2 count. Damiani dropped the first set at the No. 2 position, but managed to post a 6-3, 10-4 victory.
Degardin breezed to a 6-2 win in the first set at No. 3 before snagging the win by a 6-4 score in the second set.
Raymond cruised to a 6-1 win in the opening set at No. 4 and claimed his win with a 6-4 second-set score.
Andino played a super-set at the No. 6 slot, earning a 9-8 victory.
The Pacers return to action Saturday when they host Georgia Southwestern at 2:30 p.m.
