AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken baseball team picked up a pair of wins over visiting No. 25 Armstrong State Saturday afternoon in Peach Belt Conference action. Game scores were 14-9 and 8-4.

The Pacers were guided by Jonathan Banks and Chaz Pal as each drove in three runs in the opener. Brian Parreira added a pair of RBI while Skylar Mercado, Zach Moon, Tyler Ammerman, Charles Padilla and Luke Westerberg each contributed one RBI each.

Pal crossed home three times while Mercado, Padilla and Westerberg recorded two runs apiece.

On the mound, Connor Riley worked the first 3.2 innings and was relieved by James Lynch, who tossed 4.1 frames. Lynch picked up the victory as he struck out three and gave up two runs on three hits. Cole Lee did not allow a hit in the ninth to pick up the win.

After allowing a pair of runs in the top of the first, the Pacers tallied five runs in the bottom of the stanza and never looked back.

Parreira's double brought home Mercado. Banks then doubled home Pal and Parreira for a 3-2 edge. Ammerman's sacrifice fly allowed Moon to score and Padilla's single plated Banks for the 5-2 edge.

After tacking on a run in the bottom of the second for a four-run lead, USC Aiken went to work in the third with four more runs. Westerberg's base knock pushed Ammerman across home plate. Pal then singled home Padilla and Westerberg before Parreira plated Mercado for a lead the team would not relinquish.

In the seventh, Moon launched a double to the gap, scoring Pal and Parreira.

After the Pirates scored three runs in the eighth, USC Aiken countered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the stanza. Price smashed a round-tripper over the left field fence. Later in the inning, Moon singled home Joey Smithers for the final run of the game.
