HARROGATE, Tenn. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's basketball team lost a 78-51 decision at Lincoln Memorial Saturday afternoon in a non-conference affair.
The Pacers are now 0-2 on the year while the Railsplitters improve to 2-0.
Jasmine Carter led USC Aiken with a team-best 17 points in the loss. She contributed a team-high two blocks as well.
Emry Tsitouris accounted for eight points and seven rebounds.
Emily Waters tallied seven points while
Kwajelin Farrar snared a team-best eight boards.
For the game, the Pacers hit 18-of-61 from the floor (29.5 percent), including four-of-19 from downtown (21.1 percent). The squad buried 11-of-17 charity tosses (64.7 percent).
USC Aiken and LMU each had nine second-chance points in the contest.
The teams exchanged baskets through the first 2:21 as the score was tied at 4-4. However, a three-point shot by Karsen Sims gave the home team a 7-4 edge and it would not trail the rest of the game.
USC Aiken trailed 48-23 at the break, but played nearly even with LMU in the second half.
Trailing 61-29 in the third quarter, Farrar took a pass from
Carly Gilreath and netted a shot in the paint. A three-ball from Gilreath off a pass from
Melyk Taouil made it a 27-point contest.
The Pacers were outscored by three.in the third stanza, but came on strong in the fourth quarter.
With 8:33 to play,
Alexis Ware sliced through the defense for a lay-up.
Aubrey Lukacsko nailed a three-pointer for a quick 5-0 run.
Later in the frame, Waters embarked on a 4-0 spurt by herself, making it a 21-point game, 69-48.
