Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

USC Aiken Falls To Lander, 4-0

AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken men's soccer team lost a 4-0 decision to Lander Sunday afternoon in a Peach Belt Conference contest.

The Pacers are now 2-8 overall, including a 1-3 mark against conference foes. The Bearcats improve to 7-3 on the year and 5-0 against league teams.

Although Lander opened the contest with a shot that tested Orlando Maldovan just 61 seconds in, head coach Ike Ofoje's keeper was up for the challenge. He also turned away a shot at the 8:45 mark. At the 10:09 mark, USC Aiken recorded its first attempt as Jordan Misiri missed wide. In the 13th minute, Roberto Biendicho booted a ball toward the goal that was stopped by the keeper. Nathan Shanko registered a shot that missed wide left at the 12:10 mark.

Lander jumped on top at the 16:53 mark and added a second goal less than three minutes later. However, the Pacers had several chances to cut the deficit before intermission. The best chance came from Misiri, but his shot was turned away. Andre Simmond and Adria Dalmau each narrowly missed finding the back of the net prior to halftime.

Misiri fired a shot that seemed destined for the goal in the 65th minute, but Dean Cowdroy was up for the challenge, making a spectacular save.

The Bearcats added two goals within a three-minute span midway through the period for the final 4-0 score.

Despite the deficit, USC Aiken continued pushing forward. The team kept trying to create chances, but Lander was up for stopping the opportunities.

For the match, Ofoje's team was out-shot 17-8. The Bearcats had nine shots on goal to four by the Pacers. Maldovan stopped five shots while playing all 90 minutes.

USC Aiken had four corner kicks, but the visitors were credited with six.

The Pacers return to action Wednesday when they travel to Francis Marion at 5 p.m. Live stats and video will be available at PacerSports.com.
