USC Aiken Closes Out Season With Loss To Montevallo

AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's soccer team ended its season with a 6-0 loss to Montevallo on Senior Day.

The Pacers conclude the 2016 season with a 4-14 record, including a 2-10 mark against league foes. The Falcons improve to 6-8-1 on the year and 5-6-1 against conference competition.

Sarah Moore started things off with an outstanding shot attempt in the fourth minute of play, but the keeper was up for the stop.

Neither team generated much offensively through the first 20 minutes of action. It was not until the 22:54 mark that the Falcons secured a corner kick. In the 24th minute, the visitors netted a goal for a 1-0 edge. Moments later, Montevallo made it 2-0 after a long pass.

The Falcons tacked on a third goal off a penalty kick moments before intermission.

Catherine McHale blasted a shot in the 52nd minute of mark, but it missed the mark by a couple of feet. In the 64th minute of action, Amanda Giordano took a corner kick. Armendariz also had a shot attempt, but it sailed wide.

Trailing 5-0, Tori Caldwell took a corner kick. The possession ended up with Brye Epley blasting a shot that was blocked. Off the rebound, McHale played a well-positioned shot into the box, but it was saved.

Epley had a shot on goal in the 84th minute, but it was stopped.

For the match, USC Aiken was out-shot 9-8, including an 8-4 mark in shots on goal. The Pacers had six corner kicks compared to three for the visitors.

Karin Cadwalader and Dakota Curtis each played 45 minutes between the pipes. Each tallied a save apiece.
