Pacers Drop PBC Opener

Box Score

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's soccer team lost a 3-1 decision at Georgia College Saturday afternoon in its Peach Belt Conference opener.

The Pacers are now 0-5 overall, including an 0-1 mark against league foes.

The host Bobcats broke the scoreless tie in the 20th minute of action for a 1-0 lead. Georgia College added another goal at the 37:05 mark, but head coach Hilary George's team got her team back on track in the second half.

After intermission, USC Aiken pushed forward. Hazel Kelley fired a shot in the 49th minute of action that sailed just wide of the frame.

The Pacers played solid defense as the Bobcats had three corner kicks, resulting in a pair of shots. In the 58th minute of action, the Pacers earned a corner kick, but the team could not muster a shot on the possession.

In the 65th minute, Emily May rocketed a shot that was wide of the goal.

Tori Caldwell took a corner kick at the 68:27 mark, but once again the offense was unable to get a shot off. However, a minute later, Caldwell made a beautiful cross that found the head of Casey Rish, who played it into the back of the net, making it 2-1. The score marked Rish's first goal of her career.

Sarah Moore had a chance to tie the contest a moment later, but the Bobcats' keeper was up to the challenge. Olivia Stiltner posted a shot in the 73rd minute that was wide of the goal.

Things heated up moments later as Georgia College was awarded a penalty kick in the box, but it was saved by Karin Cadwalader.

USC Aiken managed to change the field and went on the attack. The squad earned a corner kick in the 79th minute and Akeyla Furbert blasted a shot that was saved.

The Bobcats added a goal in the 81st minute for the 3-1 score.

USC Aiken was out-shot 18-11 and Georgia College held an 8-4 advantage in corner kicks. Cadwalader played all 90 minutes in goal, stopping five shots.

The Pacers return to action Wednesday when they host Young Harris at 3:30 p.m. Live stats and video will be available at PacerSports.com.
