KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken golf team posted a six-stroke victory over Georgia College and Flagler for the Kiawah Island Invitational title, which wrapped up Tuesday afternoon.
The Pacers carded scores of 284-289 for a two-day total of three-under par, 573. Head coach Michael Carlisle's team bested Peach Belt Conference foes Georgia College and Flagler by six strokes. Lincoln Memorial and Limestone tied for fourth with an 11-over par, 587. Tusculum (590), Valdosta State (592), Erskine (593), Mount Olive (594) and Carson-Newman (598) rounded out the top 10 in the 18-team field.
Starting the day six strokes behind the leader, USC Aiken's Hubert Tisserand soared to the top of the leaderboard, earning a one-stroke victory over Ethan Wagner and Brad Hawkins. Tisserand fired a score of 72-67 for a two-round total of 139, which was five-under par.
Johnson Holliday claimed a top-10 finish with a one-under par for the tournament. After opening with a four-under par, 68, he shot a three-over par, 75, over the final 18 holes for a 143. Holliday tied for eighth.
Axel Östensson narrowly missed a top-10 finish. He placed 13th at the event after notching a two-round total of one-over par, 145. He shot a two-under par, 70, on Monday before finishing with a three-over par, 75, Tuesday.
Newcomer August Lindvall tallied a two-over par, 146, in his first collegiate tournament. His score was good enough for 17th place. Lindvall garnered a two-over par, 74, on Monday before playing the final round with an even-par score.
Samuel Schiff tied for 72nd after shooting a 13-over par for the event.
The Pacers return to action on Monday, Sept. 28, when they compete at the Saint Leo Invitational.
