AIKEN, S.C. – University of South Carolina Aiken head baseball coach Kenny Thomas is pleased to announce the 2016 schedule.
Highlighting the 50-game slate is 33 home contests, including 10 straight to open the season.
The Pacers open their season with a three-game series against Lincoln Memorial starting Feb. 5. The series will cover the entire weekend. On Feb. 9, Thomas' team squares off against Conference Carolinas foe Emmanuel (1 p.m.).
After the mid-week contest, the squad jumps right into Peach Belt Conference play. USC Aiken hosts Armstrong State Feb. 12-13, with a doubleheader on Saturday. The Pacers are off until the following weekend when they entertain the Bearcats of Lander in a three-game series that spans all weekend (Feb. 19-21).
USC Aiken plays its first road series Feb. 26-28 at PBC Tournament Champion Georgia College.
The Pacers return home for 15 of their next 18 games during March.
Thomas' team plays Paine on March 2 before hosting Georgia Southwestern in a three-game set starting two days later (March 4-5). The squad battles Chowan in a two-game series March 8-9. The only time the Pacers have to travel during the month is the following weekend when they play a three-game series at Francis Marion (March 11-13).
USC Aiken returns home for another contest against Emmanuel (March 15) before hosting North Georgia March 18-20. Thomas' team faces Paine for a second time during the month on March 23 before a league series against Montevallo (March 25-26). The squad closes the month with a non-conference date against Albany State (March 29)., marking the first time the teams have met in program history.
In April, the Pacers have 11 road games against six home contests. USC Aiken hits the road for a weekend series at UNC Pembroke (Apr. 1-3) before traveling to nearby Newberry on Apr. 6 in a mid-week battle.
USC Aiken keeps its travel close as it heads to GRU Augusta Apr. 8-10. Thomas' team steps out of conference competition for its next five contests, including four at home.
The Pacers host Newberry (Apr. 13) before entertaining Florida Southern in a weekend series (Apr. 15-17). USC Aiken hits the road for a game at Catawba (Apr. 20) before closing out its road slate with a three-game set at Flagler (Apr. 22-24).
Thomas' team plays four non-conference home games to close out the regular season.
The team hosts Southern Wesleyan (Apr. 29-30) and takes on Catawba the following weekend (May 6-7) before preparing for Peach Belt Conference competition.
