AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken golf coach Michael Carlisle is pleased to announce the 2015-16 schedule.
"We have another strong schedule in order to get us prepared for our postseason and a chance to win another NCAA Championship," Carlisle said. "We are playing in four of the best Division II regular-season tournaments and six strong Division I tournaments on good golf courses against strong teams."
The Pacers, coming off a berth to the NCAA Quarterfinals, have a schedule that includes a mixture of Division I and Division II tournaments.
USC Aiken opens its season at the Kiawah Island Invitational Sept. 14-15. From there, the squad travels to St. Leo for another 54-hole event Sept. 28-29. A season ago, Brandon Robinson-Thompson scorched the field with a nine-under par, winning the individual title while the squad posted a 14-under par, claiming the overall championship.
The Pacers make the return trip to Akron, Ohio, for the Firestone Invitational Oct. 5-6. Last season, Carlisle's team posted a one-stroke victory over Xavier in the 17-team field.
USC Aiken closes out the fall season with a two-day event at the Camden Collegiate Oct. 24-25.
Carlisle's team begins the spring slate at the Matlock Invitational Feb. 8-9, which is essentially a preview of the NCAA South/Southeast Regional. The Pacers return to Division I competition Feb. 22-23 in Hilton Head, S.C., when they compete at the Wexford Invitational.
March 7-8 features the team's home tournament, the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate. USC Aiken will compete against a Division I field while providing hole-by-hole live scoring at PacerSports.com.
Carlisle's squad hits the links at another tough tournament as it competes at the Bobcat Invitational March 21-22. Last season, the team finished second while Axel Ostensson claimed the individual title with a four-under par, 206.
USC Aiken returns to the Palmetto State for an event in the upstate as it competes at the Furman Invitational March 25-27. The Pacers close out the regular season when they play at the 3M Augusta Invitational Apr. 1-3.
Carlisle's team will look for a conference title after finishing second in 2015 in a shortened PBC Championship when it competes against the rest of the league Apr. 15-17.
USC Aiken will look to make another run at a national championship as the squad competes at the NCAA South/Southeast Regional May 2-4 and the NCAA National Championship May 17-21.
