Three Earn All-Region Honors

NORMAN, Okla. – Three University of South Carolina Aiken golf standouts earned spots on the 2015 PING/NCAA Division II all-Southeast Region team as selected by the Golf Coaches Association of America.

Johnson Holliday, Axel Östensson and Brandon Robinson-Thompson have all been named to the team.

All three standouts played in every tournament for head coach Michael Carlisle, leading the team to a No. 3 national ranking heading into the postseason. The Pacers earned a berth in the NCAA Quarterfinals.

Holliday was third on the team with a 73.4 stroke average. He finished his redshirt-freshman season with a pair of top-five finishes and three top-10 efforts. His scoring average is the 19th best in the program's illustrious history. Holliday tied for second with a four-under par, 68, in the season-opening event at the Kiawah Island Invitational. He finished third at the Peach Belt Conference Championship with a four-under par, 140, helping him earn all-tournament team honors. Holliday tallied a sixth-place finish with a three-under par, 213, at the NCAA South/Southeast Regional.    

Östensson was second on the squad with a 72.8 stroke average. He accounted for a win and three top-10 finishes during his rookie campaign. Östensson was named the PBC Freshman of the Year.  His stroke average is the eighth best in the program's history. Östensson tied for ninth at the Kiawah Island Invitational with a two-under par, 70. He won the Bobcat Invitational with a four-under par, 206 and finished 10th at the PBC Championship.

Robinson-Thompson, a first-team All-America honoree, led USC Aiken with a 72.1 stroke average. He won a tournament and registered four top-10 finishes on the season. His round of 64 at the St. Leo Invitational was the lowest round in the region this year. He won that event with a nine-under par, 135. Robinson-Thompson posted a one-under par, 215, taking eighth at the Furman Intercollegiate and was 10th at the NCAA National Championships. Robinson-Thompson was tabbed the PBC Player of the Year and garnered a 922-225 win-loss record for his senior season. Robinson-Thompson leaves USC Aiken as the career scoring leader, totaling a 72.41 stroke average.
