AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken men's tennis team posted a 5-0 victory over Anderson Thursday afternoon.
The Pacers improve to 8-8 on the season with the victory while the Trojans fall to 13-4.
Head coach Steve Dahm's team breezed through doubles action. The top-seeded tandem of Alejandro Andino and Julien Tan posted an 8-3 victory. Mathias Degardin and Andy Quirk notched an 8-4 win at the No. 2 spot while Clement Raymond and Ronan Reberac combined for an 8-5 victory at the No. 3 slot.
In singles action, only four of the five matches even started before USC Aiken clinched the overall win by claiming wins at the top two positions.
Ettore Damiani emerged victorious against his opponent, winning 6-4, 6-2 at the No. 1 position. Tan improved to 2-0 on the day with a come-from-behind victory. He lost the first set 6-3 before rebounding for wins by scores of 7-5 and 6-1, taking the match.
The Pacers return to action Thursday when they travel to GRU Augusta for a 2 p.m., match.
