Box Score NEWBERRY, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken baseball team lost a 13-5 decision at Newberry Tuesday evening.
The Pacers fall to 24-13 on the season while the Wolves improve to 25-16.
Head coach Kenny Thomas' team jumped on top with a run in the first. Tyler Moore walked with one down. He swiped second before heading to third on a throwing error. Moore came around to score on a passed ball.
In the fourth, USC Aiken went ahead 2-0. With one down, Chaz Pal ripped a double to center field. Zach Moon singled through the left side of the infield, allowing Pal to cross home plate.
The home squad pulled within one in the bottom of the fourth, but took a lead with two more in the sixth. The Wolves tacked on two runs in the seventh for a 5-2 lead.
In the top of the eighth, Randy Luckett walked with one out. With two down, Doublas Ard laced a single through the left side of the infield. Kody Belcher was hit by a pitch, loading the bases.
Moore rocketed a single up the middle, plating Luckett and Ard. Pal's infield single scored Belcher, tying the game at 5-5.
The home team scored eight runs in the bottom of the eighth, securing the win.
For the game, Pal led the way with two hits while Moore drove in a pair of runs. Ard, Luckett, Moon and Moore each recorded hits in the contest.
