AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's tennis team lost a 9-0 contest to No. 15 Georgia College Friday afternoon in a Peach Belt Conference contest.
The Pacers are now 7-8 on the season and 2-6 against league foes.
Head coach Steve Dahm's team put forth a strong fight in every match, but the team came up just short. In doubles action, the dyad of Shauna Williams and Kayla Calvert pushed their opponent to the brink before succumbing by an 8-6 count.
Oliver Veskovac picked up at least two games in each set , but was unable to record the victory. She lost at the No. 2 slot by scores of 6-2, 6-4. Calvert pushed her opponent to extra points in the first set before falling in the match by a count of 7-6, 6-0.
As the No. 5 seed, Marie Habiyaremye fought hard, but was unable to beat her counterpart. She lost by scores of 6-1, 6-4.
The Pacers return to action Apr. 9 when they host Anderson in a match slated to start at 3 p.m.
