PEMBROKE, N.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's tennis team posted a 9-0 victory over Peach Belt Conference foe UNC Pembroke Friday evening.
The Pacers are now 9-11 on the season and 4-8 against Peach Belt Conference competition.
Head coach Steve Dahm's team opened the match as Sarah Bernos and Oliver Veskovac posted an 8-2 win at the No. 1 doubles position. The dyad of Shauna Williams and Marie Habiyaremye garnered an 8-5 win at the No. 2 slot while Kayla Calvert and Sabrina Tam accounted for an 8-6 victory as the No. 3 seed.
Playing as the No. 1 seed in singles action, Bernos breezed through the competition, winning 6-1, 6-2. Williams won by identical scores at the No. 2 spot.
Third-seeded Veskovac tallied a 6-2, 6-2 victory as the No. 3 seed for the Pacers. Calvert continued to impress, claiming a 6-3, 6-2 win at the No. 4 spot.
Habiyaremye was the lone player to be pushed to a third set, but she still totaled a 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (11-0) victory. Tam notched a 6-1, 6-4 victory at the No. 6 spot.
The Pacers close out the regular season with a home match tomorrow against Flagler. The contest is slated to begin at 11 a.m.
