AUGUSTA, Ga. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's tennis team lost a 6-1 decision to GRU Augusta.
The Pacers are now 8-11 on the season and 3-8 against league foes.
Head coach Steve Dahm's team fell behind 3-0 in doubles play.
Top-seeded Sarah Bernos and Oliver Veskovac pushed their opponents to a 8-4 contest while third-seeded Kayla Calvert and Sabrina Tam fell just short in an 8-5 match.
Oliver Veskovac came through with the sole win for the Pacers at the No. 3 position in singles action. She registered a 6-2, 6-3 victory.
Marie Habiyaremye, playing as the No. 5 selection, narrowly lost a three-set match. After taking the first set 6-2, she battled but ultimately fell in the last two sets with scores of 7-5 and 10-6.
The Pacers return to action Friday when they travel to UNC Pembroke for a 2 p.m., match. The squad returns home on Apr. 18 for a contest against Flagler.
