AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's tennis team lost a 6-3 decision to Clayton State.
The Pacers are now 8-10 on the season and 3-7 against league foes.
Head coach Steve Dahm's team fell behind 2-0 in doubles play before the tandem of Shauna Williams and Marie Habiyaremye netted an 8-5 victory at the No. 2 position.
Oliver Veskovac played a three-set thriller as the No. 3 seed in singles action. She registered a 4-6, 6-1, 10-2 victory.
Kayla Calvert, playing as the No. 4 selection, garnered a three-set victory. After falling in the first set 7-5, she bounced back to take the match by scores of 6-4 and 10-2.
With the win, Veskovac netted her team-high 12th singles victory. She is currently 12-5 on the year. Calvert reached the double-digit win plateau and now stands at 10-8 on the season.
The Pacers return to action Wednesday when they travel to UNC Pembroke for a 2 p.m., match. USC Aiken plays at GRU Augusta on Thursday at 2 p.m. The squad returns home next weekend for a home contest against Flagler on Saturday.
