TIGERVILLE, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's tennis team earned an 8-1 victory at North Greenville Wednesday evening.
The Pacers are now 7-7 on the season.
Head coach Steve Dahm put together a strong doubles line-up, earning the sweep.
The tandem of Oliver Veskovac and Sarah Bernos won their match as the No. 1 seed by an 8-1 count. Second-seeded Shauna Williams and Kayla Calvert had to play a little bit extra, but registered a hard-fought 9-7 win. Marie Habiyaremye and Sabrina Tam completed the sweep with an 8-2 victory at No. 3.
In singles action, Williams took hold of the top spot and won by a 6-4, 6-2 margin. Veskovac picked up a victory at the No. 2 slot with a 6-1, 6-2 score. Bernos lost the first set at No. 3 by a score of 6-4, but bounced back to win 7-5, 10-6.
Calvert tallied a 7-5, 6-3 win at the No. 4 slot while Habiyaremye cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 victory at the No. 5 position.
The Pacers return to action Friday when they host Georgia College starting at 2 p.m.
